What to Expect at Your Consultation
Your consultation at our office is an important first step in your med spa experience. During your consultation, a licensed injector will discuss details about your injectable filler treatment with you and answer any questions you may have about your expected results.
Consultations at our medical spa typically cover a range of topics:
-
Your Candidacy
Although dermal fillers are one of the most common nonsurgical cosmetic treatments for men and women alike, not everyone is an ideal candidate. If your concerns would be better addressed by other treatment options, we can make suggestions for the best course of action.
-
Your Goals
We will listen carefully to your appearance goals and help you understand the results you can expect from dermal fillers. Injectable fillers may be enough to attain some people’s goals, while others may require additional procedures.
-
Your Preferences
While dermal fillers are fairly straightforward, you’ll still be able to customize your treatments based on your personal preferences. Certain filler options can produce results that may be more natural-looking and longer-lasting than others.
-
Additional Procedures
Injectable fillers are frequently combined with BOTOX® Cosmetic injections for a more comprehensive approach to your appearance needs. Many people also combine fillers with minor facial surgeries like lip augmentation or eyelid surgery. Injectable Filler Costs: Our staff will give you a detailed estimate of the costs of your dermal fillers, including the cost of the product and injection fees. If you are combining your fillers with surgical procedures, you’ll also be given information on cosmetic surgery financing that can help make your treatments as affordable as possible.
-
Your Timeline
While dermal fillers can be the perfect touch-up before a big event, it’s important to time your appointment well since some people experience minor swelling or pinkness in the days immediately following their injections. Our staff can help you plan a date that works best with your existing schedule.
Because each person’s goals and concerns are unique, your exact consultation may vary from the above description. However, you can expect to leave your consultation feeling much more prepared for your injectable fillers.

What to Expect before Your Appointment
Because injectable fillers are a nonsurgical treatment, there is minimal preparation involved. To help minimize your chances of developing bruising at the injection sites, avoid blood thinners, such as aspirin or ibuprofen, for 1 week prior to your appointment. Because smokers tend to bruise more easily than nonsmokers, it’s also recommended that you refrain from tobacco. Not drinking alcohol for about 2 days prior to your appointment may also minimize your chance of bruising.
People who bruise easily may wish to take arnica tablets for 1 day prior to your appointment, continuing the tablets for another 5 days after getting your fillers. Arnica is a homeopathic treatment used to prevent bruising and is available for purchase over-the-counter.
Dermal fillers are performed using precise injections into the areas of the face that require treatment. Usually, no anesthetic is used because the treatment is not painful. However, depending on your preferences and the area of treatment, your injector may apply a topical numbing cream.
If you plan to return to work or another activity straight from our medical spa, you may wish to bring some makeup with you in case the injections leave any pinkness on your skin. You can return to your normal routine immediately following your appointment.
Planning the steps to take both before and after getting injectable fillers is one of the best ways to ensure a positive experience.
