If you’re considering getting breast implants, you’re probably trying to decide between silicone and saline. Both types of implants consist of a solid silicone shell and both come in a variety of shapes and sizes designed to suit your unique needs. It’s What’s Inside that Counts
While saline implants have a silicone shell, they are filled with a sterile saltwater solution. Silicone implants, on the other hand, are filled with a thick silicone gel. This gel is semi-solid, which means it’s much closer to the soft yet firm texture of natural breast tissue. Because of this, silicone implants feel and look much more like real breasts than saline.
Another plus of the thicker consistency of silicone is that this texture reduces the possibility of visible implant wrinkling, which can be a concern associated with saline implants in women with less breast tissue or lower body fat. Also, since silicone weighs less than saline, silicone implants are less vulnerable to the effects of almighty gravity; they feel lighter as well.
Which Is Right for You?
Does all this mean that silicone implants are right for you? Well, not necessarily. Although silicone is undeniably the more popular choice among women, beautiful results can certainly be achieved with saline implants as well. The best option comes down to your own personal preference, your appearance goals and the advice of your cosmetic surgeon.
