Brow Lift
One of the most prominent features of the face, the brow/forehead area gradually descends with age and can lend a heavy or tired appearance to the face. A brow lift from our Tampa practice can lift sagging muscles and skin, restoring a lighter and more youthful look to the forehead area.

Am I a Good Candidate for a Brow Lift?
If the appearance of a drooping brow is causing you to look tired, sad or angry, you may be a good candidate for a brow lift. The placement of the brow can be affected by aging, gravity and repeated movement of the underlying facial muscles. Most brow lift patients range in age from their 40s to their 60s, though the procedure can be performed for those younger or older than this age range.
Those who feel most positive about the results of their brow lift start with good physical and mental health and maintain realistic expectations. Although it will not address wrinkles or sagging elsewhere on the face or neck area, a brow lift will help diminish the evidence of aging in the brow area.
Benefits of a Brow Lift
A brow lift can refresh your appearance by addressing sagging skin and deep creases in the upper face. As the brows droop over time, they can create a tired, heavy or even angry expression, even when you feel energized and well-rested. A brow lift repositions the brow to a more youthful, natural height while smoothing forehead lines.
Some of the key reasons why our Tampa patients consider a brow lift include:
- Elevates sagging brows for a more open, alert appearance
- Reduces forehead wrinkles and deep horizontal creases
- Softens frown lines between the eyebrows
- Improves hooding of the upper eyelids caused by brow descent
- Creates a more rested, approachable expression
- Long-lasting results compared to non-surgical options

Brow Lift Techniques
Our experienced cosmetic surgeons can utilize several surgical approaches to lift and rejuvenate the brow, and the best technique depends on your facial anatomy, hairline position, degree of brow drooping and aesthetic goals. During your consultation, Dr. Castellano or Dr. Giglio will evaluate factors such as forehead height, wrinkles and skin elasticity to determine which method will provide the most natural, balanced result.
Below are the most commonly performed brow lift techniques.
Endoscopic Brow Lift
An endoscopic brow lift requires the surgeon to place four small incisions in the hairline. An endoscope (small surgical camera) is inserted through the incisions and is used to release the brow from the underlying bone and suspend it with sutures. After the underlying tissue has been repositioned and trimmed, the four small incisions are then sutured or clamped closed.
Mid Forehead Lift
During a mid forehead lift, your surgeon will remove a small area of excess skin on the forehead in order to realign the remaining skin. Incisions are hidden within existing forehead wrinkles, and designed to disappear after healing. This procedure works best on patients with a long brow line.
Pretrichial Brow Lift
In a pretrichial brow lift, the surgeon elevates the brow and forehead area through an incision which is placed just inside the hairline. The brow is suspended with internal sutures, and excess skin is removed for a smooth outer appearance.
Your Brow Lift Consultation
Your brow lift consultation is the first step toward achieving your new look. This appointment is focused on determining whether brow lift surgery is appropriate for you and, if so, which technique will provide the most natural and effective result.
During the visit, your surgeon will review your medical history and perform a detailed examination of your brow position, forehead height, skin quality and eyelids to determine the best approach for your unique situation. Based on your anatomy and goals, your surgeon will explain which brow lift technique is recommended, where incisions would be placed, what type of anesthesia would be used and whether combining the procedure with eyelid surgery would provide a more balanced outcome.
Recovery expectations, potential risks and realistic results will also be reviewed in detail. By the end of your consultation, you should have a clear understanding of the surgical plan, the timeline for healing and what kind of outcome you can expect based on your unique facial structure.
The positioning of the brows can affect facial perception without you even knowing it. As the eyelids droop down, it creates a heavy, tired or serious look, irrespective of how one actually feels. A brow lift will gently reposition this area to open the eyes and soften the overall appearance.
At Castellano Cosmetic Surgery in Tampa, the goal is a more natural lift and not an exaggerated arch. The goal of this is to help you look more awake without making it obvious that anything was done.

Brow Lift Recovery
After surgery, a light dressing will be applied, and mild to moderate swelling and bruising are very common during the first one to two weeks. Keeping your head elevated, even while sleeping, and using cold compresses as directed can help to reduce swelling and improve comfort during the initial recovery period.
Some tightness, numbness along the scalp and mild discomfort are also normal. Prescription or over-the-counter pain medication is typically sufficient to manage this. Most patients are able to return to light daily activities within about a week, though strenuous exercise and heavy lifting should be avoided for several weeks.
Healing time depends on the technique performed. Endoscopic brow lifts often involve smaller incisions and may allow for a somewhat quicker recovery. More extensive techniques may require a slightly longer healing period but can address more significant brow descent. Sutures or staples are usually removed within 7 to 14 days, depending on incision placement.
Your Brow Lift Results
You will notice an immediate improvement in the appearance of your brow after surgery, but early swelling can temporarily obscure your final outcome. As bruising fades and swelling improves over the first two weeks, you’ll begin to see a clearer picture of your refreshed appearance.
Initial results are typically visible within 2 to 3 weeks, once most of the visible swelling has resolved. Your forehead will appear smoother, the brows more naturally elevated and the upper face more open and rested. If hooding of the upper eyelids was caused by brow descent, this often improves as well.
Final results generally become fully apparent around 3 to 6 months after surgery, once all residual swelling has settled and tissues have completely adapted to their new position. Incision lines will also continue to mature and fade over time.
Brow Lift FAQs
How much does a brow lift cost in Tampa?
Pricing for a brow lift depends on your personalized treatment plan (technique, anesthesia, and whether procedures are combined). For current starting points, see our Pricing page. You’ll receive a written, personalized quote at your consultation
Does insurance cover the cost of a brow lift?
In most cases, a brow lift is considered a cosmetic procedure and is not covered by insurance. However, if significant brow drooping is impairing your vision, a functional brow lift may qualify for partial or full coverage. This typically requires documented visual field testing and proof that the brow position is interfering with sight.
What’s the difference between a brow lift and eyelid surgery?
A brow lift addresses sagging of the forehead and eyebrows, lifting the brow to a more youthful position and smoothing forehead wrinkles. It corrects heaviness that originates above the eyes.
Eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) focuses specifically on removing excess skin, muscle or fat from the upper and/or lower eyelids. It improves drooping eyelids or under-eye bags. In some patients, both procedures are recommended to achieve balanced, natural-looking upper facial rejuvenation.
Can a brow lift be combined with other procedures?
Yes, a brow lift may be combined with other procedures in order to achieve a more youthful appearance. Eyelid surgery may be included along with a brow lift to give the entire upper half of the face a refreshed look.
To diminish signs of aging in the rest of the face and neck, a facelift also may be indicated. For less advanced aging treatment, laser skin resurfacing and other nonsurgical cosmetic procedures like BOTOX® Cosmetic and injectable fillers may be an option.
Can a brow lift fix hooded eyes?
A brow lift can improve hooded eyes if the hooding is caused by a low or sagging brow. By elevating the brow to a more natural position, the upper eyelid area appears more open and refreshed. However, if excess eyelid skin is the primary cause, eyelid surgery may be recommended instead of, or in addition to, a brow lift.
Is a brow lift painful?
Most patients describe brow lift recovery as more tight or sore than truly painful. Discomfort is typically mild to moderate and well controlled with prescribed or over-the-counter medication. Tightness, swelling and temporary numbness along the scalp are common during the first week.
How long does a brow lift last?
A brow lift provides long-lasting results. While it does not stop the natural aging process, most patients enjoy their results for many years. The brow will continue to age gradually over time, but it will remain in a more youthful position than if surgery had not been performed.
