Liposuction for Men
When Liposuction Is Right
Men who are most satisfied with their liposuction results have realistic expectations and are already in good health. Liposuction isn’t a weight loss solution, and is used instead to sculpt the body and reveal muscle tone which may otherwise be lost or disguised. Slimmer lines through the waist also help men look younger and fitter. If you are already living a healthy lifestyle and staying active, and are looking for a way to further enhance your appearance, lipo might be the right choice for you. The most popular areas treated by liposuction for Tampa men are the abdomen, chest and “love handles.” Facial liposuction and lipo of the neck can also contribute to a younger appearance.
What to Expect
Liposuction requires very small incisions, which are placed unobtrusively and designed to be hidden by everyday clothing. Through the incision, a small surgical wand, called a cannula, is inserted. The cannula is moved back and forth under the skin to break up and remove the fat deposits. Dr. Castellano performs Tumescent Liposuction to inject fluid during the procedure, allowing for increased comfort and larger amounts of fat to be removed easily.
Recovery and Results
Lipo is a minimally invasive procedure, and recovery time is similarly minimal. Since the incisions for liposuction are so small that they don’t generally require stitches, scarring is rarely a concern. This allows for maximum discretion and a quick return to your normal routine.
Some men report a sensation similar to feeling bruised in the treatment area the next day, though this should not last more than a day or two. Absence of the fat deposits will be apparent almost immediately. However, there may be swelling that follows a bit later on that can later disguise those areas again. The final, slimmer results should be visible within the first week or two after the procedure.
With Other Procedures
Liposuction is often combined with other cosmetic procedures to improve the results without the additional recovery period which would be necessary for a separate surgical procedure. Liposuction can also enhance other, similar procedures. For example, liposuction can be combined with abdominoplasty for a full restructuring of the entire abdominal area.
