BENEFITS OF INJECTABLE FILLERS
Filler injections can reduce some signs of aging such as wrinkles below the mouth and “parentheses” lines around the mouth. Patients should maintain realistic expectations regarding the outcome of these procedures, however.
Although injectables can make a big difference, all will deliver only temporary results and will require repeated injections in order to maintain the results. Additional signs of aging such as loose skin and sagging facial muscles will not be improved through the use of injectable fillers.

Our Before & Afters

WHAT TO EXPECT
A member of our award-winning team will first numb the injection site with a topical anesthetic. Then, the facial or lip filler injections will be placed under the skin. Larger areas may take a little longer to complete, but the average time spent administering an injectable is only about fifteen minutes. There are several different injectable fillers available:
-
HA Fillers
A hyaluronic acid filler (brand names Restylane® and JUVÉDERM®) is another substance used as a filler and is naturally found in the skin. Although in its unaltered form it would break down quite easily, hyaluronic acid in these fillers is formulated using a special chemical process that ensures longer lasting results. Hyaluronic acid fillers can be used to fill in existing deep lines and wrinkles, or to plump up lips and other areas of the face.
-
RADIESSE®
RADIESSE® is made of calcium hydroxylapatite, another substance that naturally exists in the body. RADIESSE® is unique because although it has inherent filling properties, it also stimulates the body’s natural collagen production at the site of injection. This allows for very natural-looking results. Results from RADIESSE® may last up to a year.
-
Sculptra®
Sculptra® is a synthetic filler made of poly-L-lactic acid. More than simply adding volume, Sculptra® helps stimulate your skin’s natural collagen production. A series of Sculptra® treatments can often deliver the best final results.
-
Collagen
Collagen is a natural substance found within the human body. It may be harvested from the patient and then injected into the desired area, or it may be taken from another source.
RECOVERY AND RESULTS
For most of our patients in Tampa, injectable fillers require virtually no recovery time. Patients will be instructed not to lie down for the first few hours, but for the most part, you should be able to resume your normal routine immediately. Results can be immediate depending on which products are used.
All the fillers listed above are temporary, and will require ongoing maintenance injections in order to maintain your initial results. Some fillers last longer than others, so you may want to experiment to see if there’s one you prefer.
With Other Procedures
Injectable fillers may be combined with other outpatient procedures for a mini-makeover. BOTOX® Cosmetic can be used to treat different types of wrinkles on the face, particularly those occurring in the brow and eye areas. Skin treatments such as a chemical peel or laser resurfacing also may provide very complementary results to those achieved through injectables alone.
