Laser Skin Resurfacing
Through the use of laser technology, many signs of aging can be diminished, while at the same time improving the skin texture and appearance for many women and men in Tampa. Laser resurfacing can be used even around the delicate eye and lip area, or for larger areas of the face. Even birthmarks and skin lesions can be reduced or removed.
We know just how important it can be for men and women to look and feel their best. This often starts with the appearance and health of the skin. If you’ve been wondering “how do I find the best cosmetic provider near me,” the answer is to come in for a consultation at our practice. Request a consultation today to learn more.

Am I a Good Candidate for Laser Skin Resurfacing?
People who are interested in this treatment may have sun damage, blemishes or other skin irregularities they would like resolved without surgery. The appearance of acne scars can also be reduced, although patients with active acne outbreaks might not be ideal candidates for some types of this procedure. Patients who have very dark skin may also not be good candidates for certain laser resurfacing treatments.
It’s important to maintain realistic expectations about the capabilities of laser resurfacing. Although the tone and texture of the skin may be greatly improved, lasers are not designed to treat significantly hanging or loose skin. This treatment can help you look younger and more refreshed, but the results will not be the same as a facelift or other surgical procedure

What to Expect
At the Castellano Cosmetic Surgery Center in Tampa, laser resurfacing is performed on an outpatient basis. Targeted areas may be treated individually, or across a larger area at once. Most treatments take less than an hour. During the procedure, the patient wears protective eyewear.
Some patients experience mild discomfort during the treatment itself. Those with very sensitive skin may have a topical anesthetic administered. We have many treatment options to choose from to fit your needs and achieve optimal results.

GentleMax Pro®
The GentleMax Pro® is a unique dual wavelength technology that delivers customized results on all skin types. GentleMax Pro utilizes intense energy and heat to safely and effectively target the skin tissues. With the use of cryogen, treated skin is cooled to help ensure comfort during your treatment.
- Excellent for moderate skin resurfacing.
- Great for brown spots, and facial and spider veins.
- Treatment is less than an hour.
- Comfortable, nonsurgical procedure.
- No downtime.
- Affordable.
Syneron Sublative eMatrix
The Syneron eMatrix is a non-laser fractional bi-polar radiofrequency technology that allows us to achieve aggressive results but with much less downtime than traditional fractional ablative procedures. It’s our most popular skin resurfacing treatment! Energy in the form of heat penetrates deep beneath the skin to stimulate collagen while keeping the outer layer of skin intact.
- Effective treatment for wrinkles, acne scars, stretch marks, improves tone/texture/pore size, tightens the skin
- Treatment is less than an hour
- Minimal to no downtime
- Affordable
- Comfortable, nonsurgical procedure
- Safe and effective on all skin types
CO2 Fractional Laser Resurfacing
Carbon Dioxide (C02) Fractional Laser Resurfacing is our most aggressive ablative treatment that removes thin layers of skin while simultaneously heating the underlying skin, causing collagen fibers to shrink. As the skin tissues heal, new skin forms to reveal a smoother and tighter appearance.
- Effective at treating deeper wrinkles, blotchiness, acne scars, sun damage and surgical or traumatic scars. It can also be used on the delicate eyelid skin and around the mouth.
- Improves tone/texture/pore size.
- Treatment time typically takes between 30 minutes and 2 hours.
- 5-7 days of social downtime.
- Safe and effective on most skin types.
CO2 laser skin resurfacing pricing depends on the treatment area, product/technology used, and number of sessions. For current starting points, see our Pricing page. Package options and an exact quote are provided at your consultation.
Recovery and Results
Depending on the type of treatment and how intense the session was will affect healing time. For example, very deep wrinkles or scars will require a longer treatment and longer healing. Light resurfacing will result in less downtime.
The treated area may look red for a while during the healing process, and the redness will be more prevalent in those with fairer skin. Any redness can be covered by makeup.
Following the treatment, any wrinkles or scars should be greatly minimized in appearance. The surface, texture and tone of the skin should all be greatly improved, and minor wrinkles will be diminished. It’s very important to use good sun protection after your treatment.

With Other Procedures
This treatment can be combined with many other procedures to help patients look younger and achieve smooth, healthy skin. Facial liposuction, eyelid surgery or injectable fillers may be used to sculpt the face in order to enhance the results of your new skin tone.
Chemical peels can be used safely with laser treatment as well, using one method to address one area of the face, and a different method for an alternate area.
