ABOUT MOMMY MAKEOVER
The female body undergoes many changes as a result of pregnancy and childbirth. When hormonal effects are combined with factors such as weight fluctuations, age and the stretching of the abdomen required to carry a child, the result can be dramatic.
As rewarding as the experience of motherhood can be, it’s not always to the delight of mothers to feel that they need to sacrifice their bodies in exchange. A mommy makeover combines procedures of your choice with the aim of helping you reclaim your pre-pregnancy figure.

THE MOST POPULAR MOMMY MAKEOVERS OPTIONS
Because a mommy makeover is a customized set of surgeries, each procedure is different. The procedures that are right for you depend on your areas of concern and the specific ways that pregnancy, nursing and motherhood have affected your body. Some of the most common mommy makeover procedures include:
-
Breast Augmentation
Breast implants can restore lost volume after pregnancy or enlarge naturally small breasts to better suit your figure.
-
Breast Lift
A breast lift, or mastopexy, can remedy sagging breasts and create a perkier, more youthful profile.
-
Tummy Tuck
A tummy tuck tightens the stomach skin after pregnancy, removes excess fatty tissue in the abdomen and resolves separated abdominal muscles known as diastasis recti.
-
Liposuction
Liposuction can treat problem spots that store disproportionate amounts of fat, such as the love handles, thighs or back.
-
Breast Reduction
Not all women want an increase in breast size to look their best. Breast reduction can create lighter and more proportionate breasts.
-
Vaginal Rejuvenation
Vaginal rejuvenation can restore and tighten vaginal tissue so you feel more like yourself again from head to toe.
-
Brazilian Butt Lift
A Brazilian butt lift uses your own fat to tone and enhance the buttocks.
-
Thigh Lift
Thigh lift surgery can help to slim, tone and tighten the inner or outer thighs.
In addition to the procedures listed above, many women include facial rejuvenation or med spa treatments to get the most out of their mommy makeovers.
PROCEDURE COMBINATIONS
While many women benefit from similar cosmetic surgeries, those desiring a comprehensive approach to their makeovers often choose a custom procedure combination. Our surgeons frequently perform combined breast augmentation and lift surgeries, as well as the specialized Avelar tummy tuck, which combines liposuction with abdominoplasty for more comprehensive contouring of the midsection. Ask your surgeon during your initial consultation for a recommendation of the best procedure combinations for your needs.
WHEN TO SCHEDULE YOUR MOMMY MAKEOVER
Because a mommy makeover is intended to help you regain your pre-baby body, it’s recommended that women wait until they’ve completed their families before scheduling their mommy makeover. If you do become pregnant after getting a mommy makeover, the procedure won’t affect your ability to carry a child safely to term or give birth. However, some of your cosmetic results may be affected and you may require a later surgery to touch up your figure once again.
While many mothers may be anxious to schedule their mommy makeovers once they’ve completed their families, we recommend waiting a minimum of 6 months after your last pregnancy and nursing before planning any surgeries. This is because pregnancy hormones will continue to affect your body for several months after pregnancy or weaning. These hormones may hinder your potential results by affecting your skin’s elasticity and your body’s tendency to store fat. Additionally, allowing yourself several months after pregnancy before planning your procedures gives you enough time to reach your target weight before your mommy makeover so that your surgeon can best address your problem spots.
YOUR NEW LOOK
By considering all of your mommy makeover options, you and your surgeon can develop a custom-tailored approach to your procedure that helps you achieve your ideal aesthetic results. It’s important to maintain your new figure with a healthy and active lifestyle so you can enjoy a more youthful and rejuvenated appearance for many years to come.
