Labiaplasty (Vaginal Rejuvenation)
For many women in Tampa, vaginal rejuvenation or labiaplasty can help reduce discomfort, restore self-confidence and improve their most intimate relationships. Although many women may feel embarrassed about discussing the appearance of this intimate area, rest assured that this is a very common procedure, and wanting to look and feel your best in every aspect is perfectly normal.
Your surgeon can address the size, shape and symmetry of your labia minora (inner vaginal folds) and labia majora (outer vaginal folds) to produce a much more comfortable and pleasing aesthetic. Each labiaplasty procedure is customized to meet your needs.

When Vaginal Rejuvenation Is Right
A labiaplasty improves the external appearance of the genitalia for a more aesthetically pleasing result. If you are self-conscious about the size of your labia, have excess fat just above your pubic area, worry about looking “normal,” or experience discomfort due to the size of your labia, then a labiaplasty may be the solution you’ve been looking for.
Depending on your needs, you may benefit from combining your labiaplasty with other surgical and nonsurgical procedures. Surgical vaginal rejuvenation is often included as part of a mommy makeover procedure or combined with nonsurgical laser vaginal rejuvenation if urinary incontinence is also a concern.
Pricing for labiaplasty depends on your personalized treatment plan (technique, anesthesia, and whether procedures are combined). For current starting points, see our Pricing page. You’ll receive a written, personalized quote at your consultation.

What to Expect
During labiaplasty, a local anesthetic is administered and then the surgeon reshapes the labia minora in relation to the labia majora. The procedure also may involve targeted removal of excess pre-pubic fat tissue from the mons pubis using liposuction.
Dissolving sutures are used to repair the incision so no stitches will need to be removed following the procedure.
Labiaplasty FAQs
How much does labiaplasty cost in Tampa?
The cost of labiaplasty in Tampa depends on your personalized treatment plan, including the technique used, anesthesia and whether the procedure is combined with others. For this reason, we are able to provide you with a personalized cost estimate at the time of your consultation. For more information, visit our Pricing page or call us to schedule a consultation. Financing options are also available to help make your procedure more accessible.
Is labiaplasty covered by insurance?
In most cases, labiaplasty is considered a cosmetic procedure and is not covered by insurance. However, when the surgery is performed to address significant functional discomfort, such as chronic irritation, pain during physical activity or recurring hygiene issues, some insurance plans may offer partial coverage. We recommend contacting your insurance provider directly to understand your specific benefits.
Is labiaplasty painful?
Labiaplasty is performed under anesthesia, so you will not feel pain during the procedure itself. Some soreness and swelling are normal in the days following surgery, and your surgeon will provide specific post-op instructions to keep you comfortable during recovery. Most patients find that any discomfort is very manageable and resolves within the first week or two.
Who is a good candidate for labiaplasty?
Good candidates are women who experience physical discomfort due to the size or shape of their labia, such as irritation during exercise, intimacy or daily activities, or who are self-conscious about the appearance of this area. Candidates should be in good overall health and have realistic expectations about their results. A consultation with Dr. Castellano or Dr. Giglio will help to determine whether labiaplasty is right for you.
What does labiaplasty surgery involve?
Labiaplasty is a surgical procedure that reshapes and reduces the labia minora (inner vaginal folds) and/or labia majora (outer vaginal folds) to achieve a more comfortable and aesthetically pleasing appearance. Each procedure is customized to the individual’s anatomy and goals.
What should I avoid before labiaplasty surgery?
Prior to surgery, we ask that you avoid blood-thinning medications and supplements, smoking and alcohol for a period of time leading up to your procedure. Your surgeon will provide a complete pre-operative checklist at your consultation so you know exactly how to prepare.
Will labiaplasty leave visible scars?
Incisions are placed discreetly and heal quite well in this area. While some scarring is an inevitable part of any surgical procedure, the incisions used in labiaplasty are small and strategically positioned to minimize visibility. Most patients are very pleased with how their results heal over time.
Can labiaplasty be combined with other procedures?
Yes. Labiaplasty is frequently performed as part of a mommy makeover and can also be combined with nonsurgical laser vaginal rejuvenation for women who also experience urinary incontinence. Your surgeon will discuss combination options during your consultation.
Will labiaplasty affect sexual function or sensation?
Labiaplasty is designed to improve comfort and confidence rather than alter sexual function. Most women report no negative change in sensation, and many find that reducing physical discomfort actually enhances their quality of life and intimacy. Your surgeon will discuss what you can expect based on your individual anatomy and goals.
Can I have labiaplasty if I plan to have children in the future?
Labiaplasty does not affect fertility or the ability to carry a pregnancy. However, since childbirth can affect the results of the procedure, we generally recommend waiting until you have completed your family before pursuing surgery. This is something to discuss openly with Dr. Castellano or Dr. Giglio during your consultation so they can help you make the most informed decision for your situation.

Recovery and Results
After the procedure, our surgeons advise that patients should expect some pain and swelling. Swelling often dissipates rapidly but may last a few weeks.
Your pubic area will likely remain very sensitive for several weeks, and patients should abstain from sexual activity until cleared by their surgeon. Daily activities are usually resumed within a few days, with more vigorous exercise a few weeks later in the healing process.
Labiaplasty and vaginal rejuvenation have some of the highest satisfaction rates among cosmetic procedures. Patients report feeling greatly improved self-image, fewer personal hygiene issues, less labial discomfort, and improved sexual relationships.
