Breast Augmentation & Lift
At our award-winning practice in Tampa, many women come to us seeking a very specific look for their breast augmentation: a high, firm profile often seen in younger women who are naturally curvy.
While breast implants can boost your cup size, they won’t improve your breast placement or position. Combining a breast augmentation with a breast lift can bring out the best in both procedures for a better final result.
There are a number of reasons why women consider a combination breast augmentation with lift procedure:
- To increase volume as well as breast position.
- To restore breast appearance after pregnancy, nursing or weight loss.
- To improve asymmetry between their breasts.
- To achieve a more proportionate figure.

When You Should Combine a Breast Lift and Implants
Many women consider combining a breast lift with implants when volume alone won’t deliver the shape they’re looking for. This is especially common after pregnancy, breastfeeding, significant weight loss or simply with time, when the breasts may have lost both fullness and position. In these cases, implants can restore volume, but a lift is what repositions the breast tissue and nipples for a more youthful contour.
The best candidates for a breast lift with implants are in good overall physical and mental health and have realistic expectations about what surgery can achieve. It’s also important to consider lifestyle factors, such as your activity level and whether you plan to have future pregnancies or breastfeed, as these can affect long-term results.
Candidacy also depends on the degree of breast sagging (known as ptosis). Not all women need a lift in addition to implants. However, you may be a strong candidate for a combined procedure if your nipples sit at or below the inframammary fold (the natural crease beneath the breast) or point downward. In these situations, a lift is often necessary to achieve balanced, natural-looking results rather than relying on implants alone.
Benefits of Combining Breast Implants and a Lift
For women who want both improved shape and restored volume, combining a breast lift with implants can offer more comprehensive, longer-lasting results than either procedure alone. This approach allows your surgeon to address multiple concerns in a single procedure.
Key benefits of this combination breast enhancement procedure include:
- Enhanced shape and position by lifting the breasts and nipples to a more youthful level.
- Restored or increased volume in areas where fullness has been lost.
- More balanced, natural-looking results compared to implants alone in sagging breasts.
- Improved symmetry when breasts differ in size, shape or position.
- A single recovery period, reducing overall downtime versus staged procedures.
- Longer-lasting outcomes by correcting sagging at the same time as augmentation.
Your Breast Augmentation and Lift Options
Planning a breast augmentation with a lift involves several important decisions, including the type, size and profile of implants, as well as surgical techniques and whether or not you’d like to include additional procedures as part of a mommy makeover, such as a tummy tuck or liposuction.
During your consultation, your surgeon will talk with you about your goals in more detail so he can recommend the breast lift and implant options that will work best for your body and specific goals. You’ll also discuss how factors like future pregnancy or weight changes may affect long-term results and plan a procedure timeline that works well for you.

Your Breast Lift with Implants Consultation
Your breast lift with implants journey begins with a personalized consultation at our Tampa office. During this visit, your surgeon will discuss your cosmetic goals, review your medical history and perform a physical evaluation to determine whether a combined lift and augmentation is the best approach for you.
As part of your consultation, you will have the opportunity to try on implant sizers, which can help you visualize how different implant sizes and profiles may look on your frame. This hands-on step allows for a more collaborative conversation and helps to align expectations before surgery.
Your surgeon will also explain the recommended surgical plan, answer your questions and ensure you feel informed and confident moving forward.
The Procedure
The procedure itself will take between 1 and 2 hours, not including the pre-surgical preparation time or your postoperative recovery. Your breast augmentation and lift will be performed under general anesthesia as an outpatient procedure, meaning you can expect to return home the same day after a recovery period in our surgery center.
Most often, breast lift incisions are made around the areola and then extend vertically down to the breast crease. The nipples and areola can be resized and centered as part of your breast enhancement as well.
The specific incision placement may vary depending on your anatomy and the level of correction needed. While some scarring on the breast is unavoidable, this should fade significantly over time.

Breast Augmentation and Lift Recovery
Recovery after a breast lift with implants is similar to recovering from either procedure on its own. Plan to take about a week off from work and daily responsibilities to focus on rest and healing.
During the first week, you’ll need to sleep in a slightly reclined position to minimize swelling and discomfort. Extra pillows can help keep you comfortably supported. Cold compresses may be used to reduce swelling, and stool softeners can help to counter constipation, a common side effect of prescription pain medication. You’ll also want to wear loose, supportive bras, as tight or underwire styles can feel uncomfortable early on.
While every woman will heal at a different pace, many are able to return to light daily activities within a week and gradually resume more strenuous exercise after about four weeks, following their surgeon’s guidance.
Your Results
You’ll begin to see improvements in breast shape and position soon after surgery, though some swelling is normal in the early weeks. As healing progresses, your breasts will gradually settle into a more natural shape, with early results becoming more apparent within the first few months.
Over the first year, your scars should fade significantly, often continuing to improve into the second year after your procedure. As healing completes, your lifted breasts will feel firmer and sit higher on the chest, while implants add volume for a fuller, more balanced silhouette. Large or downward-pointing nipples are typically repositioned to a more central, youthful location, enhancing overall proportion and symmetry.
Final results are typically visible around 3 to 6 months after surgery, once swelling has fully resolved and the implants have settled, allowing you to enjoy a refined, long-lasting outcome that looks natural and well proportioned.
