1. Lipo Rates for Men on the Rise

   In 2014, liposuction was among the top plastic surgeries for men. Cosmetic surgeons have seen a dramatic uptick in male patients seeking to eliminate diet and exercise resistant fat. Men often get liposuction for a younger, healthier looking appearance that may offer them more social and career opportunities.

2. Banishing Excess Fat

   The most frequently treated areas for liposuction in men are the chin and cheeks, the abdomen, the flanks (otherwise known as love handles) and the male breasts. These are common places for fat to gather on the male body. Despite a healthy lifestyle that includes regular exercise and a good diet, fat can linger in specific regions of the body and liposuction can refine these contours.

   One of the top trends in male liposuction is treating gynecomastia, which is characterized by excess tissue in the breasts. Men experiencing pseudo-gynecomastia have enlarged breasts resulting from excess fat. Pseudo-gynecomastia is different than gynecomastia, which must be treated by surgically excising tissue, with or without the inclusion of liposuction. Pseudo-gynecomastia, on the other hand, is a much more common condition and only requires  liposuction to sculpt the male chest into a more masculine shape.
